Bourdon Barometer

Bourdon barometer. Housed in a brass tubular case with a clear and bright paper dial with two circles at the bottom of the dial advertise the fact that a Gold Medal was won at an Exhibition in 1849 and a Council Medal at the Great Exhibition in London in Crystal Palace in 1851. Both Vidie and Bourdon exhibited barometers and gained Council Medals, the highest award. The working mechanism can be seen when removing the back from the case.

In fine condition.
